Everything you need to play this game

  • Rotation disc
  • Magnetic board
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Bottle caps
  • Paper in size A3 (two sheets)
  • Ruler (for drawing lines)
  • Cup (for drawing circles)
  • Colored pencils (green, blue, yellow)
  • Carton board
  • Basic math panels (with equations)

A step-by-step guide to play the game


The order of players is chosen. All players turn the rotation disk which will land on a specific technological product. These products will be the objective of the game for each player. All players receive (at least) six bottle caps to start the game in the start circle at the bottom of the board.


Player one solves a mathematical exercise from the math panel. It needs to be:

  • An addition to move sideways right
  • A subtraction to move sideways left
  • Multiplication or division to move forward.

The player solves the mathematical exercise. If the solution is correct, he/she can move in the indicated direction. He/she puts a bottle cap on the reached field on the board. This field is now occupied and locked for other players.


All other players perform the same steps to move to a next field on the board.


The players continue to move their bottle caps. Continue until one player has gathered all the necessary resources for his/her specific technological product.


The first player reaching the finish line at the top with a finished technological product wins the Technology Discovery game.


Depending on the age of the kids, the math panels can be varied in level of difficulty. Also the technological products can be simplified or made more complex. Another variation can be the number of combinations by adding more types of resources or more elements in one resource.

Great combination of mathematics and technology! The game is easy to play and accessible for multiple target groups. However, street educators should also prepare enough mathematical exercises to guarantee a smooth flow in the game. In the end, a reflection can be initiated with the participants about the different technological products, how these are made or for which purposes they are used in daily life.
