Een stap-voor-stap handleiding om het spel te spelen

Introduction (10')

Gather all participants. The mayor explains the concept of the game (see the script): participants will help the mayor choose the first-ever children's mayor in the city of rights from among five potential candidates. Each team represents one of the candidates and must gain the most votes for their candidate to win the election.

Team Division (10')

Participants are divided into teams, with each team representing one of the five main characters from the city of rights: Julia, Priya, Frederic, Ibrahim or Anna.

To do this, participants will look for one children's rights card in the room (see materials). On the back of this card is a QR code. This QR code links to one of our characters' audio stories and determines which team (team Julia, Priya, Frederic, Ibrahim or Anna) the participant belongs to.

The team that is complete first already gets one vote for their character.

Quiz (20')

Before the teams can represent their character, the mayor wants to make sure the participants are ready to tackle issues related to children's rights. Therefore, a short quiz through the city of rights is organised (see script and questions).

The group with the highest score at the end will get 5 points, the second group 4 points and so on.

Prepare your story (30')

Participants will now have 30 minutes to prepare a pitch to convince the mayor and the wider audience that their candidate is the best to become the first children's mayor. All teams receive interesting information (educational panels, small parts of the training ...) about their character.

For this, they ...:

Fill in the candidate's information sheet (see annex) as accurately as possible.
Make a convincing and creative pitch to convince the mayor and the audience of your candidate. All types of pitches are fine, but they should last a maximum of two minutes.

Voting (20')

All teams get two minutes to introduce their candidate to the audience/groups.

Who is he/she?
Why should he/she be the next children's mayor?

Time to vote! Everyone gets a voting paper (see annex). After choosing, they put the paper in the voting box.

After voting, the votes are counted. The winning group will receive a 'Children's Ambassador' badge (see annex).

Suggestions for the next election (5')

Finally, all participants are invited to fill in a small suggestion card to give feedback on how to improve our future elections.
