Stap 1

Three Spinning Wheels

Create 3 cardboard or paper spinning wheels:

Colors Wheel: include colors commonly found in flags (e.g. red, blue, green, black, white, yellow)
Symbols Wheel: include flag elements (e.g. star, crescent, cross, stripes, sun, leaf, bird, crown)
Continents Wheel: Africa, Europe, Asia, Oceania, North America, South America

Use cardboard circles, a pin or pushpin for the axis, and an arrow cut-out.

Stap 2

Two world maps

Map A – With Flags: a world map where each country’s flag is placed on top of its shape.
Map B – With Country Names: a world map that only shows the country names (no flags).

Print large versions so players can see easily. Maps can be homemade or printed from online sources.

Een stap-voor-stap handleiding om het spel te spelen

Setup

Place Map A (with flags) on one side of the room.
Place Map B (with country names) on the opposite side.
Divide players into pairs or small teams.
Each pair has one player near Map A and one near Map B.

Player 1 spins all three wheels:

One color
One symbol
One continent

Player 1 calls out the combination loudly to their partner/team member across the room.

Example: “Blue, star, Africa!”

Player 2 (at the map with flags) searches for a country’s flag that fits all three criteria.

When they think they’ve found a matching flag, they run across the room to Player 1.

Together, using Map B, they check which country corresponds to that flag.

If correct, they score a point. If incorrect, they can try again.

Switch roles and continue for as many rounds as desired.

Winning

You can play based on speed (who gets it fastest each round)
Or play a set number of rounds and count correct answers to find the winner

Extra informatie over het spel

This game concept was developed by a team of Sanoma during a StreetwiZe leadership expedition in Lanaken, Belgium.

Before the game starts:

Invite each player to introduce their country’s flag (or a flag that’s meaningful to them).
Ask: “What do the colors and symbols on your flag represent?”
This creates a space for connection, storytelling, and pride.

Variaties

For younger players: remove the country name map and just match flags to clues.
Use only one or two wheels (e.g., just color + symbol).
For mixed-ability groups: pair younger children with older ones or adults.
