Tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour jouer à ce jeu

  • Emoji & Alphabet/number poster board (ft. 18 pairs of randomly distributed, universally recognized emojis with an accompanying letter/number in order of the alphabet)
  • Sliding window panel (ft. 36 sliding panels that each cover one half of the window. When the panel is "open" to the right an emoji is visible and when it is to the left "closed" a letter or number is visible)

Bricolage

1

Étape 1

Create the board

Divide a carton board in six columns and six rows and draw 36 rectangles. Divide each rectangle in two smaller rectangles.

2

Étape 2

Add emoji's, letters and numbers

Now choose 18 pair of emoji's and divide them randomly over all the left hand side rectangles. Then, write the letters of the alphabet next to the emoji's, starting from the top left and going to the right, in alphabetical order. Once all letters of the alphabet are used, add numbers from 1-10 (see picture of the board).

3

Étape 3

Cover the rectangles

To complete the panel, add post-its to the images so all images are covered and not visible. You can also cover the board with the sliding door panel of the mobile school.

Bon travail!

Un guide étape par étape pour jouer le jeu

1

The game is a classic memory game with pairs of emojis. The objective is to find two identical emojis by opening the doors of the panel.

2

Play one on one, or in teams of two or more people.

3

When a matching emoji is found, explain the last time you felt that emotion. (Or as a less intrusive option, give the option to act out the emotion they just matched)

4

Afterwards, ask for the letter that is now covered by the panel, written next to the emoji (without looking under the sliding panel). As the game progresses, this will become more difficult since the neighboring letters will also be hidden. If the letter/number is wrong, the pair must be covered back up and player's turn ends.

Variations

  1. Pick an emoji that represents how you are feeling now and explain.
  2. Storytelling: select a predetermined amount of rectangles to uncover and make a story using the emojis they represent.
  3. Reverse alphabet learning: show all emojis and guess which letter is hidden beneath.
  4. Opposite emotion memory: now the objective is to find the opposite emoji match instead of the same emoji. Ensure an equal amount of emojis representing opposite emotions such as hot/cold, happy/sad, bored/excited, etc. are depicted on the board.

Simple and fun game to open up a discussion about emotions with your target group! The board is easy to make and the game combines multiple learning objectives by linking emojis to the letters of the alphabet and basic numbers. Don't miss the different variations of the game to discover the full potential of the panel. Recommended!
