Step 1

Main Route Board (Train Around the World)

Base: Take a large piece of cardboard or poster board.

Draw the route: Create a continuous path of connected spaces winding around the board — each space represents a “stop” on your world trip.

Label the continents/countries: You can add optional labels like Europe, Africa, Asia, or landmarks.

Add special spaces (optional): Some spaces can have bonuses like +2 moves, mini-challenges, or double points.

Player starting points: Mark the start and finish spaces clearly.

Step 2

Door / Double-Sided Card Board

Create the cards: Use cardboard or thick paper to make small rectangular cards.

Double-sided design:

  • Side 1: Flag of a country
  • Side 2: Object related to that country (animal, musical instrument, sport, or food)

Attach cards to board (optional):

  • Use small pegs, Velcro, or pockets on a separate board so players can flip the cards or “open the doors.”
  • Arrange them in a grid or along a path that corresponds to the main route.

Good job!

A step-by-step guide to play the game

1

Divide players into two teams. Decide who starts using Rock-Paper-Scissors or a quick game.

2

The first player chooses a flag or flips a card without showing it to their teammate.

They act out the picture, animal, sport, or object while their teammate guesses.

3

Teammates have limited time to guess.

Correct guess = move player 1 space forward.

If not guessed, the other team may try to guess and move forward if correct.

4

When landing on a special space, flip a card:

  • Flag side: Guess the country or tell a fun fact.
  • Object side: Act out the instrument, sport, animal, or food.

Successfully completing the task can give a bonus move or extra point.

5

The first team to complete the trip around the world and reach the finish wins.
