Country Wheel (12 countries arranged in a circle)
World Map with the same 12 countries, each with flag + 3 icons (animal, monument, food/drink)
Slider Board with combinations (some correct, some mixed up)
QR codes linked to traditional songs and info pages for each country
(Optional) smartphone or tablet to scan and play QR codes

Stap 1

Country Wheel

Take a large circular cardboard.
Divide it into 12 equal sections, each representing a different country.
In each section, draw or glue the flag and write the country name.
Place a spinning arrow in the center so players can spin to land on a country.

Example countries: Brazil, Japan, Kenya, France, India, Egypt, Mexico, Australia, Italy, Greece, China, and Argentina.

Stap 2

World Map Board

Draw or print a world map showing the 12 chosen countries. At each country’s location, add its flag.

Stap 3

Slider Board

Make a grid with 12 country flags on the left and mixed combinations on the right.

Use sliders or flip cards so children can move or reveal combinations (some correct, some false).

Behind the correct combination, place a QR code that links to:

A traditional song from the country
A short info page or video comparing that culture with the player’s country

Behind the wrong combinations, place a QR code that plays a short “try again” sound.

Een stap-voor-stap handleiding om het spel te spelen

The player spins the wheel, they land on a specific country with a flag. They read the name of the country.

Then they go to world map. They try to locate the country, the flags on the cover of the slider will help them. They open the slider and see the three icons representing the country: an animal, a monument and a food/drink. They say this out loud, the facilitator can help if they do not find the word.

Then they turn to the last board, where they try to find the correct combination on the slider. They slide upwards on the combination they believe is correct and then they receive a QR code that either gives a tune that the answer is wrong or if the answer is correct, they receive more information on the country, with the reference towards their own country. On top of that, they have a song that plays that is typical for the country.

Discuss what the children noticed:

What’s similar or different between their country and the one they explored?
Which animal or food was their favorite?
What did the music make them feel?

Extra informatie over het spel

Encourage teamwork and turn-taking — every child gets a chance to spin.
Use body language, sounds, or short role-play to make it more interactive (e.g., pretend to eat sushi or roar like the lion of Kenya).
Keep the tone playful, not competitive. The goal is curiosity and connection, not perfection.
Add new countries or local references over time to keep the game evolving.

This game concept was developed during a StreetwiZe leadership expedition with BARCO in Iasi, Romania, with our local partner Salvati Copiii.

Variaties

Team Competition: Two teams race to match as many countries correctly as possible.
Memory Mode: Remove the flags from Panel 3 — players must recall the country from the icons alone.
Music Only Mode: Start by playing a song (via QR code), and players must guess which country it’s from.
Creative Mode: Let children draw their own icons for one of the countries and add them to the board.
