Step 1

Spinning Wheel

Prepare the base:

Take a piece of square cardboard to use as your base.

Divide it into 4 equal parts:

Use a ruler to draw two lines crossing in the middle.

  • Green = Drawing
  • Red = Memory Dance
  • Purple = Logic/Mathematics
  • Blue = Movement

Add an arrow or spinner:

Attach a spinning wheel or arrow in the center of the board so it can rotate freely and point to one of the colored sections.

Create smaller segments within each color:

Add a few options or mini-challenges within each color section:

  • Green (Drawing): animals / vehicles / fruits & vegetables
  • Red (Memory Dance): no extra divisions — one big section
  • Purple (Logic/Mathematics): A=2 B=1 / A=4 B=2 / A=5 B=1
  • Blue (Movement): run fast / jump far / balance on one leg

Step 2

Magnetic board

Prepare the base:

Take two pieces of cardboard — one for each team.

Draw a grid (matrix):

On each board, draw a 5x5 grid with columns labeled A–E and rows labeled 1–5.

→ This gives you 25 squares in total.

Label the axes:

Write the letters A–E across the top and the numbers 1–5 down the side, just like a coordinate system.

Good job!

A step-by-step guide to play the game

1

Divide the players into two teams: Team 1 and Team 2. Each team gets its own magnetic board.

2

Each team secretly places five bottle caps on their own board in random positions. These represent “hidden spots” the other team needs to find.

3

Teams take turns guessing where the other team’s bottle caps are located on their board.

4

If a team correctly guesses a spot with a bottle cap, they’ve “unlocked” a challenge!

→ Spin the wheel to find out which type of challenge you’ll need to complete.

5

Perform the challenge as quickly, creatively, or skillfully as possible!

Examples:

  • Creative Challenge: Draw an animal in 30 seconds.
  • Dance Challenge: Show your best dance move.
  • Physical Challenge: Jump the farthest or run the fastest.
  • Logic Challenge: Solve a quick math puzzle.

6

The team that performs the challenge best (fastest, most creative, etc.) earns the challenge card/token and places it on the scoreboard.

7

The first team to collect five challenge cards wins the Battle of Talents!

Extra game information

The goal of Battle of Talents is not just to win but to help children discover what they enjoy and what they’re good at. It encourages teamwork, self-expression, movement, and confidence.

This game concept was developed during a StreetwiZe leadership expedition with Telenet in a refugee center in Lanaken, Belgium.

Variations

  • Solo version: Play individually instead of in teams.
  • Talent focus: Add new challenge types (e.g., communication, empathy, problem-solving).
  • Level up: Give harder challenges for older groups or easier ones for younger kids.
  • Time mode: Limit each challenge to 30 seconds for extra excitement.
