A step-by-step guide to play the game

1

Each player chooses a game piece and places it at the start.

2

On your turn:

  • Spin the number wheel.
  • Choose a difficulty level (basic, medium, expert).
  • Solve a math problem.

If your answer is incorrect:

  • Stay where you are (or move fewer spaces—optional rule).

Special squares:

6

Take turns clockwise.

7

The first player to reach the final square (the goal) wins the game.

Extra game information

This game concept was developed during a StreetwiZe leadership expedition with Sanoma in a refugee center in Lanaken, Belgium.

Variations

  • Team play: Players work in teams to solve problems together.
  • Timed challenge: Players must solve within a time limit (e.g., 10 seconds).
  • Penalty mode: Wrong answer → move backward instead of staying still.
  • Double reward: Harder (expert) questions = double movement.
  • Subject swap: Replace math with language questions, trivia or vocabulary challenges
  • Strategy version: Players must choose difficulty wisely. Easy = small rewards, Hard = bigger movement.
  • Cooperative mode: All players try to reach the end before a “time limit” or shared challenge ends.
