  • 1 sliding-door panel (numbers 1–36, icons for country name, capital, language, and currency, plus small facts under each icon)
  • 9 small completed country flags
  • 9 blank cardboard panels
  • 9 flag puzzles (each consisting of at least 4 pieces, numbered 1–36 linking to sliding panel)
  • Optional: tape or markers to define puzzle area
  • Cardboard sheets for blank panels
  • Printed flag images to cut into puzzle pieces
  • Scissors or cutting tools for puzzle pieces
  • Markers, numbers, and icons for sliding-door panel
  • Adhesive materials to attach numbers and icons

Étape 1

Prepare sliding-door panel
  • On the left, number from 1 to 36.
  • On the right, add icons for country name, capital, language, and currency.
  • Under each icon, include small facts about the country.

Create flag templates
  • Cut 9 blank cardboard panels.
  • Use printed flag images to create 9 reference flags.
  • Cut the flags into 4+ puzzle pieces each. Number pieces 1–36 according to the sliding-panel connections.

Assemble materials
  • Group puzzle pieces by country.
  • Prepare space for children to assemble flags and interact with sliding panel.


Tip: Laminating flag puzzles can make them more durable for repeated use outdoors.

Slide all doors on the sliding panel to the right so numbers 1–36 are visible.

Select the small completed country flags according to the number of participants.

Place the blank cardboard panels on the ground, in front of the mobile school, according to the number of selected flags.

Spread the puzzle pieces across the playing area, corresponding to the selected flags.

Divide children into groups (around 4 per group).

Show each group the reference flag they need to assemble.

Let groups search for their puzzle pieces and bring them to the blank panels.

Have groups assemble the puzzle together on the blank panel.

Once completed, children turn the puzzle pieces to reveal numbers.

Groups then find the corresponding numbers on the sliding-door panel to discover facts about the country they assembled.

This game concept was developed by a team of Tomorrowland during a StreetwiZe leadership expedition in Kolkata, India.

Variations

  • Timed Challenge: Groups compete to assemble their flag fastest and find all the numbers.
  • Flag Relay: Each child collects one puzzle piece at a time to encourage teamwork.
  • Fact Hunt: After completing the flag, groups answer quiz questions based on the facts discovered.
  • Creative Twist: Let children design their own flags for imaginary countries and create new puzzles.
  • Cultural Exchange: Mix puzzle pieces from different countries to make children recognize patterns and similarities.
