Un guide étape par étape pour jouer le jeu

1

Gather a few players in front of the two discs. Then, ask one of the players to spin the emoji wheel.

2

Ask the player to explain when he/she felt like this during the pandemic. For example: when did you feel happy? When did you feel surprised?

3

Make sure all the players can share their feelings during this first round.

4

After the first round, spin the characters wheel. The arrow will land on one of the characters. For example: a policeman. Then ask the player how the police would have felt during the pandemic, so the players will need to think empathically.

5

The activity ends when all the characters have been discussed.

Informations supplémentaires sur le jeu

This activity is a part of the COVID-19 package. The package aims to give youth workers the tools to discuss the consequences of the pandemic with their target group. The COVID-19 overview panel is the starting point for all the discussions. After playing the overview panel, extra activities on the seven different topics are available to dive deeper into the matter.

The game contains two different rotation discs. One with different emotions (emojis) and one with 12 characters. These characters are (starting at 0 at the bottom of the panel, moving clockwise):

  1. Group of kids
  2. Grandfather
  3. Dog
  4. Mother
  5. Little kid
  6. Religious leaders
  7. Teacher and child
  8. Grandmother
  9. Market seller
  10. Police man
  11. Father
  12. Doctor

A pandemic undoubtedly has short-term and long-term effects on children's wellbeing. However, the best way to help kids cope with crisis is to teach them to recognize, understand and manage their emotions. Therefore, these activities about expressing emotions are crucial. They can help the kids to alleviate emotional stress, improve concentration, boost their immune system and enhance brain development.

Variations

  • Link the panel to the COVID-19 Overview Panel and ask the children how different characters feel on the panel. What is the reason for their positive or negative emotion?
  • The opposite emotion: ask the players if they feel differently about certain things in time of a pandemic. For example: visit grandparents (before the pandemic it was maybe a different feeling than during the pandemic). Ask the children to look for the opposite emotion on the disc
  • Imagine ...: ask the players how they would change the pandemic situation if they were on of the characters on the disc, by saying: "Imagine you were a police man, what would you do?" Reflect with the player about the different roles and responsibilities.

Objectifs d'apprentissage spécifiques

  • Learn to talk about and reflect on complex emotions
  • Learn about the emotions of other people (differences in perception)
