Un guide étape par étape pour jouer le jeu

1

Divide the players into different groups.

2

The game leader spins the arrow until it ends up on a letter, e.g.: S.

3

Each group now has 1 minute to write down as many words as possible related to sexuality starting with the letter S, e.g.: sex, STD, sperm, sock (on the door),...

4

When the time is up, each group states a word they came up with. If one of the other groups wrote down the same word, the word has to be crossed out.

5

The groups get 1 point per word that has not been crossed out at the end.

6

Then, the game leader spins the arrow again to choose a different letter, etc.

7

The group that has most points at the end of the game (e.g. after 3 rounds) wins the game.

8

Use the words that were written down as the starting point for a discussion, by asking questions such as:

  • What does that word mean according to you?
  • What do you know about it?
  • ...
9

You can also ask players if there are words they would like to know more about. If you feel they might feel uncomfortable saying it aloud for the entire group, you can ask all players to write down the words they want to find out more about and put them in a box, so all answers remain anonymous.

Informations supplémentaires sur le jeu

This activity is a part of the StreetSmart sexuality package. The package aims to give youth workers the tools they need to address the topic of sexuality in a playful way with the children and young people they work with, so they can learn to make conscious, healthy and respectful decisions.

Sexuality is a very broad term, encompassing various subtopics. Here, you can find a list of all activities included in our sexuality package to address these different topics:

  1. Sexuality in general: The Sex Alphabet, The Sexuality Goose Game, Yes or No Circle, Sexuality Statement Game
  2. Body (development): Anatomy fundamentals, Who has what?, Physical changes in puberty, Emotional changes in puberty, Life Cycle
  3. Boundaries: Stop!, People to People, Kiss the Teddy Bear, Body Carrousel, (Not) Okay?, Body Twister
  4. Relationships: Choose Your Relationship, My Ideal Partner, In The Worst Way Possible
  5. Gender & sexual orientation: Labels, Sex Change, Who does what?
  6. Safe sex: The Synonym Game, Condom Smugglers, Goodie Bag, STD-Roulette, Can I get pregnant?
  7. Sex & media: Who is responsible?

Variations

  • Topic: This activity is a good warm-up or introduction exercise for each (sub)topic of sexuality. If you want to talk about gender specifically, e.g., you ask players to only write down words related to that topic.
  • ABC: Ask the groups to write down all letters of the alphabet on a piece of paper. In 10 minutes, the groups now need to try to come up with words related to sexuality starting with each letter. When the time is up, go over the words the groups wrote down. If a word has been written down by more than one group, it has to be crossed out. All words that are not crossed out at the end count for 1 point. The group with most points, wins.
  • The Risk Alphabet: This game is a variety on the ABC game. Ask players to come up with words related to safe sex specifically with each letter of the alphabet. Per word, let them write down whether the word involves a risk for aids and/or STDs and unwanted pregnancy or not. Discuss afterwards: Why do you think this is (not) safe? When is it (not) safe? When can you do/use this?
  • Word train: Player 1 spins the arrow to determine the first letter of the first word, e.g. "g". He/she comes up with a word related to sexuality starting with "g", e.g.: "gay". From now on, players will need to come up with a word starting with the final letter of the word the previous player said. So in this case, player 2 needs to come up with a word starting with the letter "y", e.g.: "y-chromosome". Player 3 now needs to come up with a word related to sexuality starting with the letter "e", e.g.: "erection". Player 4 needs to come up with a word starting with "n", etc. Write down all the words that are mentioned and discuss them after the game is over.
  • Word cloud: Give the groups 1 word, e.g. "kissing" or "body" and ask them to write down as many words as possible they associate with that word. The group with the most elaborate word cloud wins.

Objectifs d'apprentissage spécifiques

  • Players dare to say words related to relationships and sexuality aloud
  • Players expand their relationships and sexuality vocabulary
